<p>Part one of this &#8216;How to Lose Belly Fat&#8217; series will discuss the theory, while part two will show you the recommended exercises for strengthening the core, while reducing belly fat.</p>
<p>The &#8216;core&#8217; muscles are those in the pelvis and trunk area. They include the abdominal muscles both at the front and sides of the abdomen, the erector muscles in the lower back, pelvic floor muscles and those around the hips. Some of the most important muscles are deeper and these are the ones that protect the spine. </p>

<p>As well as being important for keeping a healthy back, the strength of the core muscles affects your overall posture and balance. Keeping a strong core will also radically reduce any risk of injury in various day to day activities including exercise.</p>
<p>The best exercises for core strength training are those exercises that are similar to certain activities performed while doing a particular sport. The aim is to focus on rotational and diagonal movements, as well as thinking about balance and strength. Therefore exercises that use different equipment such as a Swiss ball, a wobble board, or a medicine ball, for example, are all ideal.</p>

<p>Both your abs and your obliques are worked on in all the plank exercises below. If you&#8217;re just starting out with the plank, hold for 15 &#8211; 30 seconds. Rest for one minute then repeat another two times. Increase the holding time to 45 &#8211; 60 seconds, then eventually to 90 seconds. </p>
<p>When you can easily hold three times for 90 seconds, then move up to the next level plank exercise.</p>

<p>To further increase the difficulty level, the following exercise requires you to place your feet on a Bosu.</p>

<p>As with all abs exercises, alone they will not help you to lose belly flab. You still need to do fat burning exercises, such as interval training and high intensity weight training. </p>
<p>These plank exercises however, will nicely tone up your abs and obliques so when you do lose belly flab they will give you that lovely defined, taut look.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>It makes good sense to exercise for weight loss, however some people may feel they are beyond that and they are too overweight to even begin to exercise for weight loss.</p>
<p>This is far from the truth and the reality is that you won&#8217;t lose any weight if you don&#8217;t exercise. </p>
<p>Along with weight loss, exercise has so many advantages and being overweight can seriously hinder your health. Problems such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes and high blood pressure can all be prevented if you engage in a regular exercise routine.</p>
<p>Start off slowly with some gentle walking. Alternatively you can try swimming if you prefer. By doing a little bit of exercise for weight loss, consistently every day, you&#8217;ll start to see some results.</p>

<p>Once you see some results, you&#8217;ll start to feel better about yourself and you can ramp things up a bit. You could join a gym or a local walking or jogging group. Exercising with friends is always a good motivator and you can set some goals together.</p>
<p>The main thing is to start and make exercise for weight loss, part of your regular routine. Just as important is to think about your diet and what sort of foods you eat on a regular basis. Switch to healthy choices and follow some of the guidelines in the fat burning foods section.</p>
<p>If you have been inactive for over six months, consult your doctor before beginning an exercise program.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The question of how to burn belly fat comes up regularly. Many people are under the impression that if they do loads of abdominal exercises this will do the trick. However if you really want to know how to burn belly fat the most efficient and effective way, you need to be doing regular cardiovascular activities.</p>
<p>This could include running or jogging, swimming, treadmill workouts, elliptical exercise, rowing, and many other fat burning activities of this nature. If you belong to a gym there are many great classes that will really help to burn the fat. Try Spinning, circuit classes, aerobics, step, boxing, or any classes that really get your heart rate up.</p>

<p>The key is to do any of these cardio exercises regularly and often. Three to four times a week should be the minimum and more if you can schedule it in. The duration of your workout can be anywhere between thirty and sixty minutes, depending on your time constraints or if it is a class you are attending.</p>
<p>In addition to cardio training, incorporate weight training into your weekly routine. Target the larger muscle groups such as quadriceps, back, and chest and also include some abs work within your workout. </p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>To lose the belly fat you really need to understand your abdominals muscles or abs. Your abs are made up of different muscle groups. </p>
<p>The <em>rectus abdominis muscles</em> are situated between your diaphragm and your pubic area. They run vertically down this part of your torso and are what you use to bend forward. These are the muscles which produce the &#8216;six pack&#8217; look for those who are slim and toned in this area.</p>
<p>Next are the <em>obliques</em> which are underneath the rectus abdominis muscles. There are internal and external obliques as shown on the image below. They start in the front of your body and go around to your back. The obliques are used for twisting and turning your torso as well as bending from side to side. Toned obliques will enhance a slim looking waist and a flat belly.</p>
<p>Finally, the <em>transverse abdominis muscles</em> are situated deep below these other two muscle groups. They cover the internal organs and help support and keep them in place. Working on these muscles will strengthen the whole abdominal area and give you a slim look.</p>
<p>There are other smaller muscles within the abs but these are the three main ones you need to think about when you want to lose the belly fat.</p>
