			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>In this final post on &#8220;Great Toning Exercises&#8221;, we will bring it all together and lay out a complete, full body workout using these great toning exercises on the Swiss ball.</p>
<p>Follow the steps below, resting for 1 minute in between each of the repetitions. To increase the challenge of this workout, gradually introduce heavier weights where dumbbells are used and increase the holding times for the appropriate exercises. </p>
<p>For a further challenge, you can perform this entire workout using super sets, meaning you group two exercises together. For example, you would perform the Lateral arm raise immediately followed by the Shoulder press with no rest time in between. You would then do the same with the French press and the Bicep curl, then the Wall lunges and the Wall squats on so on.</p>

<p>As another alternative, you can perform the whole routine as Interval training. This means you would run through one set of each exercise straight after the other with no rest time in between. Do this twice, starting again from the beginning so you perform two sets of each exercise. If you choose to do this, please ensure you don&#8217;t overtire and lose your form, especially on the back and the core exercises. </p>
<p>If you can&#8217;t perform each exercise correctly and with excellent form throughout, then go back to the original routine of two sets of each exercise with a one minute rest in between, before moving onto the next exercise.</p>
<ol>
<li>Lateral arm raise &#8211; 2 sets of 12 repetitions</li>
<li>Shoulder press &#8211; 2 sets of 12 repetitions</li>
<li>French press &#8211; 2 sets of 15 repetitions</li>
<li>Bicep curl &#8211; 2 sets of 12 repetitions</li>
<li>Wall lunges &#8211; 2 sets of 15 repetitions on each leg</li>
<li>Wall squats &#8211; 2 sets of 15 repetitions</li>
<li>Hamstring lifts &#8211; 2 sets of 15 repetitions</li>
<li>Back roll on the ball &#8211; repeat 5 times</li>
<li>Back extension &#8211; 2 sets of 12 repetitions</li>
<li>Balancing back &#8211; 2 sets of 12 repetitions on each side</li>
<li>Leaning on the ball &#8211;  5 repetitions on each side</li>
<li>Rolling on the ball &#8211; 2 sets of 12 repetitions</li>
<li>Plank on the ball- repeat 5 times</li>
</ol>
<p>Finish the routine by stretching each of the muscle groups you have worked then finishing up doing the Back roll on the ball three times.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Part 4 in this series on &#8220;Great Toning Exercises&#8221; looks at some excellent core strength training you can do using a Swiss ball. Along with the back strengthening exercises, core training is such an important part of any good exercise routine.</p>
<h3>Leaning on the ball</h3>
<p>Kneel next to the Swiss ball with one arm resting on the ball, ensuring the ball does not touch your leg. Draw your abdominal muscles in tight, while at the same time, clenching your buttocks.</p>
<p>Keeping your spine straight, lean your body sideways into the ball, resting on your forearm. Hold this position for five deep breaths, then change sides and repeat on the other side. Alternate changing sides for a total of five repetitions on each side.</p>
<p>As you build up your abdominal strength, try holding the count for longer to increase the challenge.</p>
<h3>Rolling on the ball</h3>
<p>Kneeling on the floor, the ball in front of you, rest both hands lightly on the ball. Suck in your abdominal muscles, holding tight throughout the following movement.</p>
<p>Slowly roll the ball away from you until your forearms are resting on the ball and your feet raise up behind you. Keep your back straight and your buttocks tucked under. Hold this position for five deep breaths then slowly roll back to the starting position. Repeat this movement for 12 repetitions, resting for a minute, before repeating another set of 12 repetitions.</p>
<h3>Plank on the ball</h3>
<p>This Swiss ball version of the popular Plank is one of the great toning exercises you can perform for your core strength. </p>
<p>Start by kneeling on the floor on your hands and knees, with the ball behind you and your shins resting on it. Keep a strong torso by holding your abdominal muscles in tight. Roll the ball slowly back behind you until your legs are straight and you are in a horizontal position with your arms firmly planted on the floor directly underneath your shoulders and the tops of your feet resting on the ball behind you.</p>
<p>Hold this position for five breaths, keeping your stomach firmly sucked in. Slowly roll back in to the starting position and repeat this movement five times.</p>
<p>Once you build up your strength, increase the length of time you hold in the horizontal position.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This next part in the series on &#8220;Great Toning Exercises&#8221;, will focus on exercises using the Swiss ball to strengthen and tone your back. This is often the most overlooked part of any good body toning routine, yet is one of the most important. As a long time sufferer of back problems myself, I can most definitely attest to the fact that keeping your back strong and toned is a must in any fitness routine and one of the best, great toning exercises you can do look after your body.</p>
<h3>Back roll on the ball</h3>
<p>It&#8217;s always a good idea to start off any back routine by warming up the vertebrae. This simple exercise gets your back ready for the next two back strengthening exercises.</p>
<p>Sitting forward on the Swiss ball, rest your hands on the top of your thighs, keeping your back straight. Now slowly roll up, vertebrae by vertebrae, so you finish sitting in an upright position on the ball. Complete this move by rolling your shoulders up, back and down. Repeat this move at least 5 times.</p>
<h3>Back extension</h3>
<p>Start by lying prone over the Swiss ball, with your feet out behind you, toes resting on the floor. Place your hands lightly on the ball on either side of your hips.</p>
<p>Raise your chest slowly, up off the ball then follow this with raising your arms sideways off the ball like wings. Lower both your arms and chest slowly back to the starting position. Repeat this move for 12 repetitions then rest over the ball for a minute, then repeat another 12 repetitions.</p>
<h3>Balancing back</h3>
<p>As with the previous exercise, start by lying prone on the ball, with your feet resting behind you on the floor. Your finger tips can rest of the floor in front of you.</p>
<p>Slowly raise your left arm off the floor to shoulder height, while at the same time, raise your right leg off the floor behind you to hip height. Hold this position for three breaths then slowly lower your arm and leg back down. Repeat this movement with your right arm and your left leg and alternating legs, repeat for 12 repetitions. Rest over the ball for one minute, then repeat another 12 repetitions on each side.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This next post in the series &#8220;Great Toning Exercises&#8221; will discuss some great toning exercises for your legs. We will still be using the Swiss ball for these toning exercises as the main piece of equipment, along with dumbbells.</p>
<h3>Wall lunges</h3>
<p>Place the Swiss ball between your lower back and a wall behind you. Step one foot forward as far as possible, with the other foot close to the wall with your heel off the ground.</p>
<p>Lower yourself slowly down towards the ground, bending both knees. Your back knee should almost touch the ground. Stand up again to the starting position and repeat for 15 repetitions. Swap feet and perform another 15 repetitions with your other foot forward. Repeat both legs for one more set, resting for one minute between each set.</p>
<p>Keep your posture straight throughout with your abdominal muscles firmly sucked in and your back straight.</p>
<h3>Wall squats</h3>

<p>Stand with your feet hip-width apart, your knees bent at a 90 degree angle so you are in a seated squat, with your back facing the wall and place the Swiss ball in between the wall and your lower back.</p>
<p>Slowly stand up so your legs are almost straight then lower yourself down again in a slow controlled movement. Repeat this for two sets of 15 repetitions, resting for one minute in between.</p>
<p>Make sure you knees don&#8217;t go over your toes and keep your abdominal muscles sucked in tight and your back straight throughout this exercise.</p>
<p>For both of the exercises above, you may wish to hold some dumbbells depending on how strong you are. Hold the appropriate weight in each hand and increase the weight as you get stronger. </p>
<h3>Hamstring lifts</h3>
<p>Lying on your back on the floor with your legs straight out in front of you, place your heels on the Swiss ball, your arms resting down by your sides.</p>
<p>Slowly raise your butt up off the floor while sucking in your abdominal muscles. Roll the ball in towards your butt until your knees are in line with your hips. Slowly roll the ball back away from you and lower your butt back to the floor.</p>
<p>Repeat this for two sets of 15 repetitions, resting in between for one minute.</p>
<p>To increase the challenge, perform this exercise with your arms raised up above you. This is excellent for your core stability but only perform this advanced move when you are confident you can keep good form and you don&#8217;t slump your butt back down to the floor at any stage when you are rolling the ball in and out.</p>
<p>For an even more advanced move, do not lower your butt back down while repeating the repetitions of rolling the ball in and out.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>If you have a Swiss ball or have access to one at your gym, here are some great toning exercises to help you get in shape. This first post, will cover toning exercises for your arms.</p>
<p>In all of these great toning exercises, focus on keeping your abdominal muscles sucked in, picturing your belly button moving towards your spine. This will help to keep your balance while seated on the ball, while at the same time helping to tone your belly muscles. </p>
<h3>Lateral arm raise</h3>
<p>Seated on the ball, with your feet firmly planted on the ground in front of you, hold a suitable dumbbell in each hand. Place your elbows down by your sides, bent at a 90 degree angle.</p>
<p>Slowly raise your arms upwards until they are level with your shoulders. Lower back down slowly to the starting position.</p>
<p>Repeat two sets of 12 repetitions, resting for one minute in between each set.</p>

<h3>Shoulder press</h3>
<p>Seated on the ball, in the same position as the previous exercise, hold the same dumbbells in each hand. Extend your arms out to the sides, horizontal to the ground, your elbows at a 90 degree angle.</p>
<p>Slowly push the weights up towards the ceiling, until your arms are almost straight above your head. Keep a slight bend in the elbows. Hold for a couple of seconds at the top, then slowly lower back down to the starting position.</p>
<p>Repeat two sets of 12 repetitions, with a one minute rest in between.</p>
<h3>French press</h3>
<p>Seated on the ball, holding one dumbbell in both hands, above your head with your elbows close to your ears. Slowly lower the weight down behind your head by bending your elbows, keeping your elbows as close to your ears as possible throughout the movement. Raise the weight back to the starting position slowly.</p>
<p>Repeat two sets of 15 repetitions, resting for one minute in between each set.</p>
<h3>Bicep curl</h3>
<p>In the same starting position as the previous exercises, seated on the ball, hold a dumbbell in each hand. Your arms are straight and by your sides. Keeping your upper arms firmly tucked in by your sides, slowly lift the weights up towards your shoulders. Lower the weights back down slowly keeping the movement smooth throughout.</p>
<p>Repeat two sets of 12 repetitions, with a one minute rest in between.</p>
<p>If you wish to perform these great toning exercises in a more advanced manner, sit on the ball with one leg raised off the ground, straight out in front of you. Change legs for each set performed. Make sure you keep your belly sucked in throughout and keep your back straight, focusing on your posture.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>One of the best leg toning exercise workouts you can do is the alternating dumbbell lunge. This exercise works the glutes as well as the the quads, hamstrings and calves so is a great overall leg toning exercise.</p>
<p>You&#8217;ll need a set of dumbbells at an appropriate weight for you. If you&#8217;re new to weight training or even a bit rusty, perform this exercise without any dumbbells until you build up enough strength.</p>
<p>Start off by performing two sets of 12 repetitions on each side, and build this up to three sets as you get fitter. Keep increasing the dumbbell weight over time to challenge yourself.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Last week&#8217;s post on <a href="http://www.myfatburningexercises.com/toning-exercises/womens-arm-toning-exercises/">Women&#8217;s Arm Toning Exercises</a> got such good feedback we&#8217;ve been asked to add some more of the best arm toning exercises for women.</p>
<p>Again these will be broken up into the various muscle groups. This time however, we will include some gym equipment to add a bit of variety. </p>
<p>With each exercise, do 2-3 sets of 10-15 repetitions. These can of course, be mixed and matched with the best arm toning exercises for women in this and the <a href="http://www.myfatburningexercises.com/toning-exercises/womens-arm-toning-exercises/">previous post</a>. Try to include two exercises from each muscle group, or perform supersets as previously suggested if just choosing one exercise.</p>
<h3>Chest</h3>
<h4>BOSU kneeling pushup</h4>
<p>Kneel on a mat with your hands out in front of you on a BOSU which is turned upside down. Your arms should be shoulder-width apart and your elbows slightly bent. Slowly lower yourself down towards the BOSU so your chest almost touches it. Next push yourself up to the starting position.</p>
<h4>Incline barbell bench press</h4>

<p>Lying on your back on a bench with an incline of 45 degrees, hold a barbell on your chest with your hands shoulder-width apart. Slowly lift the bar straight up above you. Hold at this top position for two seconds then slowly lower back down.</p>
<h3>Shoulders</h3>
<h4>Dumbbell upright row</h4>
<p>Stand with your feet hip-width apart, knees slightly bent to protect your back. Hold a pair of dumbbells in each hand in front of your thighs. Draw both dumbbells up towards your shoulders to about the level of your chin. After holding at the top for a couple of seconds, slowly lower back down. This exercise also works the trapezius muscles in your back.</p>
<h4>Machine lateral raise</h4>
<p>Adjust the seat height so your thighs fit comfortably under the support and your arms are fully extended to reach the bar. Grip the bar firmly with both hands and pull down towards your chest. Return to the starting position keeping all movements well controlled.</p>
<h3>Biceps</h3>
<h4>Preacher curl</h4>
<p>Sitting on an inclined preacher bench, hold a bar bell in both hands with your wrists pointing away from you. Keeping your arms planted firmly on the pad, slowly lift the bar as high as you can. Hold at the top for a couple of seconds and slowly return to the starting position.</p>
<h4>Standing barbell curl</h4>
<p>Stand with your feet shoulder width apart and hold a bar bell in the underhand grip as above, with it resting on your thighs in front of you. With a very slow movement, lift the bar bell up towards you and keep your elbows close to your sides. Pause at the top for a few seconds then slowly lower back down. </p>
<h3>Triceps</h3>
<h4>Bench dip</h4>
<p>Place your hands on a bench behind you, shoulder-width apart with your fingers facing forwards. Your knees are bent at a 90 degree angle to the floor. Slowly lower yourself down so your buttocks is nearly resting on the floor then raise back up. Keep your elbows in tight at all times throughout the exercise.</p>
<h4>Dumbbell triceps extension</h4>
<p>Lie on your back on a bench, holding a dumbbell in each hand. Keeping your arms straight above your head with your arms shoulder-width apart. Lower the dumbbells slowly towards your temples, by bending your elbows to about 90 degrees. After pausing at the bottom for two seconds, slowly raise the dumbbells back up to the starting position.</p>
<p>Performing these best arm toning exercises for women will get your upper body looking lovely and toned.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I&#8217;m often asked what are the best women&#8217;s arm toning exercises. Over the years I&#8217;ve tried them all I&#8217;m sure and a handful of them have really stuck with me. This is mainly because they work and I&#8217;ve seen the results, but also because I enjoy these particular exercises. </p>
<p>There&#8217;s not much point adding women&#8217;s arm toning exercises to your routine if you dislike them as it&#8217;s unlikely you&#8217;ll stick with them or if you do you may not perform them properly as you&#8217;ll just want to move on to the next exercise. Because of that, only select the women&#8217;s arm toning exercises that you enjoy. It&#8217;s far better to have those in your routine than ones you dread doing.</p>

<p>Here&#8217;s a list of a few that I find both fun to do, yet are challenging as well as rewarding. I&#8217;ve included two from each muscle group, you can choose to do both or just do one. If you do both then try performing them as a <a href="http://www.myfatburningexercises.com/fat-burning-exercises/exercises-burn-fat/">superset</a>. If you choose just one from each muscle group then perform three sets of at least 12 repetitions.</p>
<p>You&#8217;ll need dumbbells for most of these exercises. Choose a suitable weight for your level, if you are a beginner choose a very light weight to start with.</p>
<h3>Chest</h3>
<h4>Chest press</h4>
<p>Lie back on a bench or a Swiss ball holding the dumbbells in each hand, close to your chest with your elbows bent. Now press the weights up slowly then lower back down.</p>
<h4>Push ups</h4>
<p>Simple yet effective, <a href="http://www.myfatburningexercises.com/toning-exercises/toning-exercises-without-equipment/">push ups</a> are excellent for strengthening your chest  area and can be done at home without equipment.</p>
<h3>Shoulders</h3>
<h4>Arnold press</h4>
<p>Sitting on a bench, hold a pair of dumbbells in each hand at the level of your shoulders. Face your hands inwards and slowly press the weights up as you twist your hands so they are facing outwards when you reach the top. Pause at the top for a couple of seconds and lower back down twisting your hands back so they are again facing inwards. </p>
<h4>Dumbbell lateral raise</h4>
<p>Standing with your feet hip width apart, hold a dumbbell in each hand, arms down by your sides. Slowly raise your arms out and up to the level of your shoulders, keeping your hands facing downwards. Lower back down slowly to the starting position.</p>
<h3>Biceps</h3>
<h4>Concentration curl</h4>
<p>Sitting on a bench, legs wide apart, resting one elbow on your inner thigh. Hold a dumbbell in that hand and slowly curl it up towards your shoulder then curl back down. Keeping everything still, only moving your forearm up and down with slow, steady movements.</p>
<p>Repeat the same with the other arm, performing the same amount of repetitions.</p>
<h4>Hammer curl</h4>
<p>Stand with your feet shoulder width apart, with your arms down by your sides. Hold a dumbbell in each hand with your wrists facing each other. Slowly curl both weights up towards your shoulders then lower back down to the starting position.</p>
<h3>Triceps</h3>
<h4>Triceps kickback</h4>
<p>This exercise is great for strengthening those flabby triceps which seem to appear in your late 30s! Hold a dumbbell in one hand, then place your opposite hand and knee on a bench. Your other leg rests on the floor, directly below your torso, with your knee slightly bent. Keep your back straight.</p>
<p>Tuck the elbow with the weight in it, into your side with the elbow bent at a 90 degree angle. Now extend your arm back so your wrist, elbow, and shoulder are all in line. Lower the weight back down to a 90 degree angle.</p>
<p>Repeat the same number of reps with the other arm.</p>
<h4>French press</h4>
<p>Sit on the end of a bench and hold a dumbbell with both hands with you arms outstretched above your head. Slowly bend your elbows, lowering the weight towards the back of your neck. Lift back up to the starting position. Keep your elbows close to your ears at all times throughout this exercise.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Using Swiss ball exercises to tone the back is simple and has the added benefit of strengthening the core muscles at the same time. </p>
<p>It&#8217;s important to keep the back muscles toned and strong for support, good posture and overall back health.</p>
<p>A well defined, toned back is also considered a very attractive look on both men and women. Adding these easy exercises to tone the back to your regular workouts will certainly enhance this.</p>

<h3>Back extension</h3>
<ul>
<li>Lie outstretched on the Swiss ball in a prone position with your feet resting on the ground. Rest both hands on the ball beside your hips.</li>
<li>With a slow and controlled movement, raise your chest up off the ball</li>
<li>Next raise your arms up off the ball, out to the sides with your elbows bent</li>
<li>Slowly lower both your arms and your chest back to the ball</li>
<li>Repeat this movement for 15 reps then rest for one minute, and repeat another 15 reps.</li>
</ul>
<h4>Tip</h4>
<p>As you raise your chest up, squeeze your shoulder blades together.</p>
<h3>Pike</h3>
<ul>
<li>Start by lying with your stomach over the ball and your legs out behind you, raised off the ground, in line with your body</li>
<li>Place your hands lightly on the floor in front of you for balance</li>
<li>Now slowly lower your legs and chest towards the floor so you are in a &#8216;V&#8217; position over the ball. Keep your legs as straight as possible and your heels together</li>
<li>Repeat this for 15 reps, rest for one minute, then repeat for another 15 reps.</li>
</ul>
<h4>Tip</h4>
<p>Clench your buttocks together as you raise your legs back off the floor.</p>
