<p>Treadmill workouts include walking, jogging or running exercises that are performed on a treadmill machine. Treadmill workouts are the best way to get in shape and improve cardiovascular fitness. They burn calories, work many muscle groups and strengthen cardiovascular components in the body. Treadmill workouts are a good form of exercise for people with diseases such as osteoporosis, hypertension and chronic back pain.</p>
<p>Long and easy running are the easiest exercises for treadmill workouts. During treadmill workouts time moves slowly, but by putting some fun into treadmill workouts with music and videos it&#8217;s a little less monotonous.</p>
<p>Treadmill workouts improve cardiovascular fitness, stimulate the release of extra endorphins and burn calories which makes the individual feel great after the workout. Workouts on a treadmill device are consistent in all sessions and can be performed in morning, afternoon, evening or when the user is in a mood to perform workouts on a treadmill. </p>
<p>Treadmills include numerous workout programs. </p>
<p>Simply walking backwards on a treadmill is one form of treadmill workout to avoid from tripping, achieve coordination, balance and strength. This form of workout is very useful for ballroom dancers or people who need to balance themselves while performing tasks related to moving backwards, jumping backwards, etc. Total time a user can spend performing this treadmill workout is around 10-15 minutes and is commonly known as retro.</p>
<p>Another treadmill workout exercise is the trail hike. Workouts of this form enable the user to work on a variety of muscle groups or to train for a challenging hike. This treadmill workout is performed by using the treadmill&#8217;s pre-set programs or manually varying the incline. Treadmill workouts of this form can be performed for 30-45 minutes.</p>
<p>Technique check treadmill workouts enable the individual to develop efficient walking technique. This workout can be performed by walking at various paces with mirrors in front of and to the side to check technique, posture, arm carriage, foot action, etc. Users can perform this form of treadmill workout for about 30-60 minutes.</p>
<p>Training for a marathon or long walk can be done through the academic reward treadmill workout. The treadmill is set to a slow pace and the user walks for 2 hours or more on the treadmill.</p>
<p>Setting the treadmill at a pace of 140 strides or more per minute is known as the Quick Step treadmill workout. This form of treadmill workout enables users to walk quickly and prevents boredom. This treadmill workout can be performed for 45 minutes.</p>
<p>Fartlek is a treadmill workout that alternates fast and slow placed walking for a great cardiovascular workout. Treadmill workouts of this form are performed by walking on a treadmill at very fast pace and then slowing down. 47 minutes is the total time that this treadmill workout can be performed.</p>
<p>Rock and walk is another treadmill workout which is helpful during the cardiovascular fartlek workout and is performed by walking on a treadmill while listening to soft/hard rock music. This treadmill workout can be performed up to 3 hours.</p>
<p>Short circuit treadmill workout provides a mix of aerobic and strength training by means of walking at a comfortable pace for 5 minutes, stepping off and doing 1 minute of circuit exercises. Total time that this treadmill workout can be performed is 30 minutes.</p>

<p>Stretch treadmill workout is a mix of aerobic training and gentle stretching. This treadmill workout is performed by walking on the treadmill for 10 minutes, stepping off and stretching for ten minutes and then again continuing walking. Total time this treadmill workout can be performed is 40 minutes. </p>
<p>Another form of treadmill workout is the mediation walk which offers total relaxation by lighting some candles, incense and walking stress away. This treadmill workout can be performed for 30 minutes.</p>
<p>Treadmill workouts enable users to burn calories, lose weight and achieve results that they desire.</p>

<p>The following interval treadmill workout can be done in 30 minutes and includes five minutes of stretching at the end. </p>
<ul>
<li>Warm up for three minutes at a moderate speed with an incline of one</li>
<li>Perform 20 minutes of intervals following this pattern &#8211; one minute hard then one minute easy, 10 times each</li>
<li>Cool down for two minutes at an easy pace with no incline</li>
<li>Stretch for five minutes</li>

<p>For the hard intervals, you can run, jog, or walk. If jogging or walking, choose an incline that challenges you. These hard intervals need to be extremely intense, with an aim to getting your heart rate to 85-95% of your maximum heart rate.  You can recover during the easy intervals, with a slow walk at minimal incline.</p>
<p>Although this interval treadmill workout may seem quite simplistic, it is enormously effective and if performed twice a week, it can really make a difference to your fitness levels and ability to burn fat.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>A great way to keep track of where you&#8217;re at with your regular treadmill workouts is to keep a treadmill exercise log. This doesn&#8217;t have to be fancy or elaborate, just a weekly record of some of the important aspects of your workouts.</p>
<p>You can either make a simple spreadsheet on your computer or just use a pad and rule some lines for columns. </p>
<p>In the first column put the date and day of the week. The next column put in the total time of your workout. If you use a heart rate monitor you can make extra columns for the calories you have burned, and your average and maximum heart rate. Finally have a column for notes and put in how you felt &#8211; was it hard on a particular day or easy? </p>
<p>Keeping a weekly treadmill exercise log, is an excellent way to keep you motivated because you can look back on your week. You can either pat yourself on the back or decide that you need to improve your treadmill workouts for the week ahead.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The following routine is an excellent example of a treadmill workout for weight loss. If you do this two or three times a week you will notice some positive results in just a few weeks.</p>
<ol>
<li>Warm up for <strong>5 minutes</strong> with an incline of <strong>two</strong> and a speed of around <strong>3-3½ miles</strong> per hour (approximately <strong>5-5½ kilometers</strong> per hour)</li>
<li>Increase the speed to about <strong>4 miles</strong> per hour (<strong>6½ kilometers</strong> per hour), then <strong>every minute increase the incline by one</strong></li>
<li>Do this for <strong>10 minutes</strong> then at <strong>15 minutes</strong> you should be working at an <strong>incline of 12</strong></li>
<li>Keep the <strong>incline at 12</strong> and increase your speed to about <strong>4½ miles</strong> per hour (approximately <strong>7-7½ kilometers</strong> per hour). Continue this for <strong>10 minutes</strong></li>
<li>At <strong>25 minutes</strong>, start decreasing the incline by one level every minute until you get to <strong>35 minutes</strong></li>
<li>Next, increase the speed to <strong>5 miles</strong> per hour (approximately <strong>8 kilometers</strong> per hour) and jog lightly for <strong>5 minutes</strong></li>
<li>You should now be at <strong>40 minutes</strong> where you will cool down for <strong>5 minutes</strong> at a speed of <strong>3-3½ miles</strong> per hour (approximately <strong>5-5½ kilometers</strong> per hour)</li>

<p>This treadmill workout for weight loss will take you 45 minutes and it is recommended that you spend at least 5 minutes stretching at the end, after your cool down. Concentrate on stretching the muscles you have just worked &#8211; quadriceps, hamstrings, glutes, and calves. </p>
<p>If you find this treadmill workout too difficult,  depending upon your level of fitness, you may decrease the speed and/or the incline. Work towards increasing both for maximum benefit and fat burning results. </p>
<p>On the other hand, if you find this workout too easy, increase the speed and/or incline. Make sure it feels tough and gets you out of your comfort zone, if it&#8217;s too easy you won&#8217;t achieve your desired results!</p>
