How often have you joined a gym or bought a new piece of exercise equipment with all good intentions of using it regularly, only to end up finding other, ‘more important’ things to do! These tips to stick with your fat burning exercises should help to get into a routine that you will stick to permanently.
As everyone knows exercise has so many benefits. Once you make it part of your regular routine, you not only reap all the health benefits, you also feel great in yourself for all you have achieved.
- Schedule your exercise time into your planner or diary.
By making your exercise a priority every day, chances are you won’t get side-tracked and leave it to the last minute. Often what happens if you just wait until you have spare time, it simply won’t happen. - Find a training buddy
Choose a friend who has similar fitness abilities and goals as you and plan a regular time to meet up and exercise. This is a great way to motivate yourself as if you get lazy and don’t turn up, not only are you letting yourself down but you are letting someone else down too. - Set yourself goals
It’s a good idea to set short-term as well as long-term goals of what you want to achieve with your workouts. Keep them realistic by setting small, achievable goals. Once you see the results, you’ll be motivated to keep going and you’ll set higher and more challenging goals. - Get some exercise equipment at home
This is especially good if you find yourself short of time. If you only have half an hour, for example, chances are you won’t want to jump in the car and drive to the gym if it’s too far away. Instead, if you have equipment at home you can put that half hour to good use straight away. - Be careful not to overdo it
You don’t want to get injured by over doing your fat burning exercises. Recovery can take a long time which is extremely frustrating and can set you back a long way. Avoid injury by stretching well after exercising as well as allowing sufficient rest in between exercises. Also ensure you wear the correct shoes and other training gear. - Keep a training journal
By writing down your activities in a training journal, you can monitor your progress and see where you might need to focus further. Jot down things such as the distance you’ve done, the time you’ve taken, weights you have lifted as well as reps and sets you have achieved. Also note down how you were feeling, was it too easy and could you have trained harder? - Finally reward yourself regularly!
As long as you are sticking to your training goals, reward yourself when you achieve them. Get a massage, buy a new training outfit, or have a special night out with friends.
