Many people may have not thought about doing yoga for weight loss, however a 2005 study shows that it is, in fact, very possible to lose week with a regular yoga practice.

According to Professor Kristal and his colleagues from the University of Washington in Seattle, people who practice yoga on a regular basis, are more likely to lose weight than those who don’t practice regular yoga. Furthermore, the study showed that the more overweight people are, the more weight they will lose.

The more vigorous the yoga practice, the more likely it is that weight loss will happen. Yoga styles such as Ashtanga, Bikram and Vinyasa are all recommended if weight loss is your goal.

The study also concluded that practicing yoga can make people more aware of their body, helping them to be more sensitive to that full feeling. This makes it much easier to stop eating when your body has had enough food.

The beauty of practicing yoga is that it can be done by everyone of all fitness levels. It can be physically challenging as well as mentally calming and it’s many health benefits makes it one of the most important activities anyone can take up at any age. The weight loss is an added benefit!
