There is such a thing as good sugar and knowing the difference can help when choosing the best fat burning foods to include in your diet.
Fructose, the sugar found in fruit, is very different to refined sugar which has all the goodness processed out of it. Refined sugars have no nutrients and are released into the bloodstream quickly. This causes a potentially dangerous rise in blood sugar levels, also known as a ‘sugar high’.
Sugar in most fruit however, is released more slowly. Fruit also comes in a very nice healthy package including water, fibre, vitamins, minerals as well as many antioxidants.
For this reason, it’s perfectly ok to eat plenty of fruit every day without having to worry that you may be consuming too much sugar.
So instead of reaching out for that piece of chocolate or cake for afternoon tea, why not have a bowl of strawberries or a handful of cherries? You’ll be surprised how having fruit can actually satisfy your sugar cravings and think how much better it is for you.
